Bird Flu Notice

Bird Conservation Nepal is kindly drawing your attention regarding recent hits of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus (H5N1) or commonly Known as Bird Flu in Nepal.  We are hearing confirmed cases of Bird Flu in domesticated poultries, in Eastern Nepal particularly in Illam, Jhapa, Sunsari and Panchthar.  We are also receiving information on massive deaths of crows, house sparrows, owls etc in Biratnagar and Kathmandu. Government of Nepal through District Livestock Service Offices is actively monitoring Bird Flu virus. Bird Flu viruses can circulate between wild bird, poultry and Human, but cases reported in human are very rare.

If you have come across large number of sick birds or seen death of wild birds or domesticated birds in huge number, please contact BCN or inform nearby District Livestock Service Office or any relevant animal health authorities. We request you on practicing personal health hygiene measures until the case returns to normal.
