The project entitled "Mainstreaming Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services into Community Forestry in Nepal" has been operated by Bird Conservation Nepal (BCN) with joint effort of Department of Forest (DoF) and FECOFUN since June, 2015 for three years. The main aim of this Darwin Initiative funded project is to mainstream biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services more effectively into CF in Nepal. To achieve this, “improve understanding and strengthen capacity of key staffs of DoF, FECOFUN, CFUGs and NGOs/programmes involved in CF” to implement in biodiversity supplement is one of the objectives of the project.
To fulfill this objective, development of training courses for forestry professionals, including of modules relating to the integration of biodiversity and ES into Community Forest Management (CFM) planning with appropriate tools, guidelines, and awareness materials is necessary.
In this context, BCN is searching an experienced personality for Training Design of Forestry staff involved in Operation Plan preparation to incorporate Biodiversity and Ecosystem into Operation Plan (OP) of CFs.
Responsibility of the consultant
The main task of the external consultant will be to involve and support for research study specifically in designing methodology, brief analysis and drafting report. Followings are the specific tasks of the consultant:
Based on discussion with Project team develop and finalize methodology and plan of action.
Carry out consultation meetings with related agencies.
Prepare and submit training curricula and manual for forestry field staff to implement Biodiversity Supplement in OP of CFs.
Carry out draft sharing meeting in participation with project team, focal person of departments and other key actors.
Finalize curricula and manual incorporating feedbacks.
Develop training materials.
Eligibility of the Consultant
The project (BCN) is ideally looking for a professional consultant having clear understanding on biodiversity conservation and community forestry process with sustainable forest management. The following criteria shall be strictly reviewed during the selection process;
Consultant should have at least Master’s Degree in Forestry/Environmental Science/ Sociology/Rural development or the field related to Biodiversity Conservation and a proven track record of at least five years of conducting similar experience in designing curricula, manual, delivering trainings and training materials development.
Strong facilitation skills and understanding of Community Forestry Process including Operational Plan preparation process and content.
Strong understanding on manual and curricula design, session plan, session materials, and facilitation method and techniques.
Good analytical and communication skills both in Nepali and English.
