A community level awareness program was organized at
Gargare, Rupendehi on 27 January 2014. The program was jointly organized
by Bhisahi area forest office, Livestock
sub center Gargare, Gaindatal jatayu restaurant management committee, Rudrapur
community forest user group and Bird conservation Nepal.
The participants were different forest user group members,
different veterinary proprietors, and officials from forest office, local
political party leaders, students and BCN executive members.
During the program, the significance of vulture and need of
vulture safe zone (VSZ) was shared and discussed. BCN’s vision, mission and the
initiation for vulture conservation in Nepal was also shared. The role of local
people in vulture conservation and its habitat management was discussed. The
community forest user groups were requested to incorporate vulture conservation
program in the community forest operation plan.
