Book entitled “Vulture Conservation in Nepal” was released
on 22 May, 2014 in a programme organized by Ministry of Forests and Soil
Conservation on the occasion of International Biodiversity Day-2014. Dr. Ganesh
Raj Joshi, Secretary at Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation was the
chairperson of the program. Dr. Krishna Chandra Paudel, Secretary at Ministry
of Science, Technology and Environment was the special guest in the program.
Mr. Sriranjan Lacoul, Secretary at Water and Energy Commission Secretariat was
another guest in the program. Other guests in the program were the chiefs of
Nepal Forest Association (NFA), World Wildlife Fund (WWF)-Nepal, International
Union for nature conservation (IUCN)-Nepal and National Trust for Nature
Conservation (NTNC).
On the program, book entitled “Vulture Conservation in
Nepal” was released by Mr. Sriranjan Lacoul, Secretary at Water and Energy
Commission Secretariat. The book comprises the history and causes of vulture
decline, status of vultures in Nepal, efforts in Nepal to conserve vultures in
Nepal. 2000 copies of the book has been produced and it is believed that the
book will be a good reference for any further vulture conservation and research
activities in Nepal.
