The regional consultative workshop on revision of Vulture
Conservation Action Plan was organised by BCN at Inaruwa, Sunsari on 12 June
2014. BCN has been assisting Department of National Parks and Wildlife
Conservation Nepal for the revision of Vulture Conservation Action Plan. Chiefs
and representatives from Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve, District Livestock
Service Offices (Sunsari, Saptari and Morang), District Forest Offices
(Sunsari, Saptari and Morang), Department of Drug Administration, Biratnagar
Office, District Development Committee-Sunsari, District Agriculture
Development Office-Sunsari, Federation of Community Forest User Groups Nepal
district committee-Sunsari, Koshi Bird Society-Sunsari, Jatayu Restaurant
Management Committee-Sunsari, Ditrict committee of Nepal para-veterinary and
Livestock Association- Sunsari, National CFUG-Sunsari and different media were
present on the workshop.
Mr. Khadananda Paudel, Vulture Conservation Officer at Bird
Conservation Nepal facilitated the program and presented the updates on
research and conservation of vultures in Nepal. Mr. Tulsi Subedi, Senior
Program Officer at Himalayan Nature presented the status and conservation of
vultures in eastern Nepal. The discussion among the participants was focused on
what should be the priority of objectives and activities for next five years
for the conservation of vultures in Nepal.
