7th International Vulture Awareness Day was celebrated at
Siddhipur, Kapilvastu on 4th September, 2015. Training program to animal health
workers on vulture conservation was organized by district committee of Nepal
para Veterinary and Livestock Association (NEVLA) andBird Conservation Nepal.
Total of 31 participants attended the program which included
unregistered vet practitioners,members of NEVLA Committee and staff from
District Livestock Service Office, Kapilvastu.
Bhupal Nepali from BCN shared the information on vulture and
highlighted the importance of vulture awareness day, causes for declining
vulture population. The issues with Diclofenacand how Meloxicam has served a
win-win situation for both Vultures as well as Cattles were mentioned by DLSO,
Kapilvastu’s staff Dhurba Jyawali. It was further emphasized by President
Yubraj Ghimire, NEVLA.
Short documentary on SAVE vulture was shown to the participants.
The program was successfully concluded with free distribution of 72 Vial (100
ml) Meloxicam at the end.
Since 2001, BCN has been working at national
as well as local level towards protecting vultures of Nepal.
