Syanja district has been declared as
diclofenac free Zone on April 23, 2012. In a program organized by District
Livestock Service Office, Syangja, supported by Bird Conservation Nepal,
stakeholders from all local government authorities, NGOs and media came to
declard Syangja district as Dicfenac Free Zone. Dr Kalyan Kumar Shrestha, Chief
of District Livestock Service Office, mentioned that District Livestock Service
Office has found no diclofenac in vet pharmacies in several survey conducted by
them. District Livestock Service Office has regular monitoring of drugs in all
pharmacies of district. Mr. Nabaraj
Baral, Assistant District Officer of Syagja District, chaired the program and
highlighted the role of vultures in cleaning our environment. He also appealed
with all stakeholders to show their solidarity in vulture conservation. The
program convened al together 40 individuals from District Livestock Service
Office, District Forest Office, District Development Office, District
Agriculture Office, District Para-vet and Livestock Association, District Drug
Trader Association and several Agrovets. This declaration make Diclofenac Free
Zone eighteenth and a total area of 32, 657 Sq Km.
