Doti district has been declared Diclofenac
Free Zone (DFZ) on 18th June 2013. In a programme jointly organized by District
Livestock Service Office, Doti, District Forest Office, Doti and
Bird conservation Nepal (BCN), satakeholders from all local government
authorities, NGOs and media declared Doti District as Diclofenac free
Zone. Singh Ayer (District Soil
conservation officer), Ram Swartha Yadav (District Public Health Office), Durga
Bhandari (Women & Child Welfare Officer), Ram Niwash Jaiswal (District Agriculture
Office), Keshar singh Kathayat (Chamber of Commerce), Krishna Malasi (
FECOFUN), Chetan Raj Pathak (Nepal Para Veterinary and Livestock Association)
from Doti district and Bhupal Nepali from Bird Conservation Nepal highlighted
the role of vultures in cleaning our environment, need of conservation of
vultures locally and globally and requested all stakeholders to show their
solidarity in vulture conservation. Altogether 29 participants’ representation
from these diverse sectors used the forum to discuss on the issues of vulture
decline from south Asia, the cause of decline and role of all stakeholders in
conserving these critically endangered birds. This declaration makes Diclofenac
Free Zone thirty third and a total area of 62,316 square kilometer in Nepal.
