Pyuthan district has been declared as diclofenac free Zone
on July 2, 2013. In a program organized by District Livestock Service Office,
Pyuthan, supported and facilitated by Bird Conservation Nepal, stakeholders
from all local government authorities, NGOs and media came to declard Pyuthan
district as Dicfenac Free Zone. Dr Bishnu Pd Dhital, Chief of District
Livestock Service Office, mentioned that District Livestock Service Office has
found no diclofenac in vet pharmacies in several survey conducted by them.
District Livestock Service Office has a provision of regular monitoring of
drugs in all vet pharmacies of district.
Mr. Dil Bahadur Ghimere, Chief District Officer of Pyuthan District,
appeared as chief guest in the program and highlighted the role of vultures in
cleaning our environment. He also appealed with all stakeholders to show their
solidarity in vulture conservation and effective implementation of DFZ. The
program convened al together 40 individuals from District Livestock Service
Office, District Forest Office, District Development Office, District
Agriculture Office, District Para-vet and Livestock Association, District Drug
Trader Association and several Agro-vets. This declaration makes Diclofenac
Free Zone twenty first and a total area of 39, 122 Sq Km.
