Bird Conservation Nepal in collaboration with Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) Pokhara and Pokhara Bird Society organized "Bird Watching Tourism Training” for trekking guides on 27 and 28 February 2017 at Pokhara.

Two days long theory and field based training program was designed to enhance their capacity on bird watching. On the first day, participants learned about status of birds of Nepal, conservation and tourism, Nepalese ornithological history, Code and Conduct for Bird Watchers from Jyotendra Jyu Thakuri, Senior Porgram Officer, Krishna Bhusal Vulture Program Officer and Rajendra Gurung, General Secretary from BCN. Bird identification and watching techniques with bird watching equipment class was delivered by Manshant Ghimire, coordinator Pokhara Bird Society. On afternoon field visit was organized to Fewa wetland area where observe more than 30 species of birds. Som Bahadur Thapa, president Pokhara Tourism Council, Deepak Raj Adhikari, president TAAN, Pokhara, Shes Kanta Sharma from Pokhara Bird Society, journalist Bhim Ghimire and Krishna Mani Baral address the opening ceremony.

Second day began with filed visit to Ghachok Vulture Safe Feeding Site for bird watching, vulture identification that lasted from early morning till noon. Participants able to observe seven species of vulture out of nine species of country in the site. After back from field participants learned about the “rules and regulations” in protected areas from Rishi Ram Dhakal, Conservation Officer of DNPWC based in Annapurna Conservation Area.

Surya Thapaliya, Senior Officer, Nepal Tourism Board, Pokhara, Hari K.C senior ornithologist, Tulsi Subedi, NMA Annapurna Chapter, Rajendra Gurung, BCN addressed the closing ceremony. Participants were awarded with certificate.
