Bird Conservation Nepal (BCN), the BirdLife Partner in Nepal, seeks application from qualified Nepali candidates for Project Officer position based in Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve.
Position Title: Project Officer
Duty Station: Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve
Reporting: Senior Program Manager
Salary and benefits: As per the organization's norm commensurate with the project agreement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The key role of the incumbent will be to implement the project “Sustainable management of wetlands and grasslands: enhancing biodiversity and livelihoods” in Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve (KTWR) and its buffer zone.
Specific responsibilities are outlined below:
1.Provide
full support and assistance to Senior Program Manager in annual and quarterly planning and reporting of the project.
2.Liaise
with KTWR office, Buffer Zone Management Committee and relevant local
government line agencies and other stakeholders over project implementation.
3.Support
in conducting annual participatory population monitoring of globally and
nationally threatened birds and their threats in KTWR.
4.Conduct
and/or support in carrying out capacity building trainings, workshops and
awareness campaigns to support project objectives.
5.Facilitate
observation tours to different places of Nepal to local community groups.
6.Support
in conducting baseline surveys for socio-economic studies and analysis.
7.Develop
strategic plan for Income Generating Activities (IGAs) and other poverty reduction initiatives.
8.Conduct
activities to explicitly empower and involve women based on the gender analyses.
9.Conduct
activity to address the needs and rights of indigenous and other marginalised groups,
as well as youth.
10.Facilitate
engagement and lessons sharing within district level network in project area.
11.Conduct
public awareness raising and advocacy through appropriate media and other means.
12.Undertake any other responsibilities relevant for implementing the programme as directed by the supervisor.
Required skills and experience:
Education
· Master’s degree in Zoology, Forestry, Environment, Natural Resource Management or any other relevant subjects.
Experience
· Minimum of two years working experience in project implementation in
conservation/livelihood support projects.
· Experience
in networking and relationship building.
· Knowledge
and experience on project and program management, design, monitoring and
evaluation and report writing.
·
Proven skills in community
mobilization and trainings.
· Strong communication skills.
Computer skills
· MS Word, Excel, SPSS, GIS, Powerpoint, online platforms (i.e Zoom, skype and other standard software).
