Conservation Nepal (BCN), the Birdlife
International Partner in Nepal, is seeking applications from qualified Nepali
candidates for the position of Project Assistant, under Emergency Site Casework:
Engaging Local Government and Communities to Conserve Migratory
Birds in Dang Deukhuri Foothill Forest and West Rapti Wetlands, IBA Project.
Job Title:
Project Assistant
Reports to: Project officer
Contract period: 10 months (with possibility of extension
based on project needs)
Duty Station: Butwal, Rupandehi
Project working areas:
Primarily Western Terai Districts
Duties & Responsibilities:
1.
Coordinate
effectively with municipalities, indigenous community leaders, CBOs, forest
department, and BCN’s local conservation groups to ensure smooth project
implementation.
2.
Assist
the Project Officer with program awareness and advocacy efforts.
3.
Design
and conduct awareness, consultation, sensitization, training, workshop, and
advocacy programs for local communities, schools, and government bodies
(including division/sub-division forest offices) to engage them in bird and
biodiversity conservation.
4.
Assist in the identification and survey of bird species and their
habitats.
5.
Support community groups in conservation monitoring and documentation.
6.
Maintain bird data and produce short communication materials.
7.
Any
other BCN related work as per instructions from relevant authorities at BCN
Required skills and experience
Qualification
Bachelor degree in Forestry, Agriculture,
Environmental Science, Zoology, Natural Resource Management or any other
relevant subjects. Ability to work in rural environment and travel widely
Experience
·
Minimum
2 year of relevant working experience in project implementation in NGO.
·
Good command of both English and Nepali languages.
·
familiar
with standard computer software, with good presentation, communication and
interpersonal skills.
·
Experience
of working in different ethnic community people and conservation
organizations.
·
Experience
networking and relationship building.
·
Proven
skill in community mobilization and trainings
·
Good
knowledge and experience in program reporting and planning.
