The regional consultative workshop on revision of Vulture Conservation Action Plan was organised by BCN at Sauraha Chitwan on 6 June 2014. BCN has been assisting Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Nepal for the revision of Vulture Conservation Action Plan. Chiefs and representatives from Chitwan National Park, Biodiversity Conservation Centre (National trust for nature conservation), District Livestock Service Offices (Kaski, Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Rupandehi and Kapilbastu), District Forest Offices (Kaski, Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Rupandehi and Kapilbastu), District Development Committee-Chitwan, District Agriculture Development Office-Chitwan, Federation of Community Forest User Groups Nepal district committee-Chitwan, Bird Education Society-Chitwan, Jatayu Restaurant Management Committee-Nawalparasi, Jatayu Restaurant Management Committee-Rupandehi, Vulture Conservation and Management Committee-Ghachowk, Kaski, Ditrict committee of Nepal para-veterinary and Livestock Association from Chitwan and Kapilbastu, Agriculture and Forestry University, Rampur Campus, Adheri Chharchhare CFUG-Palpa, Garta Khahare Khola CFUG, Arghankhachi, Prithvi Narayan Campus-Pokhara, Bird Conservation Nepal-Pokhara Branch at Institute of Forestry, Pokhara and different media were present on the workshop.
Dr. Chiranjibi Prasad Pokheral, Program Chief at
Biodiversity Conservation Centre-National Trust for Nature Conservation
facilitated the program. Mr. Khadananda Paudel, Vulture Conservation Officer at
BCN presented the updates on research and conservation of vultures in Nepal.
Objectives, activities and achievements of Vulture
Conservation Action Plan (2009-2013) and planning for next five years on the
base of these were discussed during the workshop. Ramesh Kumar Thapa, Assistant
Warden at Chitwan National Park put conclusion and closing remarks in the
program.
