2nd Advisory Committee Meeting of the project “Mainstreaming
Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services into Community Forestry in Nepal” was held
on 14th May 2016 at Indreni Food Land,
New Baneshwor, Kathmandu under the presidency of Director General of DoF.
Participants included Director General of DoF Gauri Sankar Timala, DDG (Chief,
CFD), Dr. Anuja Raj Sharma, Chair
Person, FECOFUN, Ganesh Karki,
President, BCN, Yubraj Basnet, CEO, BCN, Dr. Narendra Man Babu Pradhan,
Under-secretary, DoF, Prakash Lamsal, Member Secretary, FECOFUN, Thakur
Bhandari, Senior Conservation Officer, Isana Thapa, Senior Project Officer,
Sudil Gopal Acharya and Project Officer, Parbat Raj Thani.
The meeting was started with the short introduction of
project by Dr. Narendra Man Babu Pradhan. Following to him, Sudil Achary,
updated the progress and the further planning of the programme through his
presentation and tabulated the agendas for decision. Thereafter, discussion was
carried out based on proposed agendas.
Major decisions were made as : i) technical committee will be formed to
technically assist the project, where
members of the technical committee will be Focal person from DoF and FECOFUN,
working team including one person (training expert) from Training Division and
one biodiversity expert. ii) CF cluster
selection criteria for piloting will be develop by existing “regular technical
support team”, by which maximum 5 cluster of CFs will be selected for 14
piloting CFs.
Similarly, the committee advised to working team to include
project monitoring activities in flow chart and try to address EbA during
piloting of Biodiversity conservation and Ecosystem promotion in CF.
