The 34th Annual General Meeting for Bird Conservation Nepal
was held on 28 January 2017 at Hotel Moonlight, Kathmandu. The program was chaired by Yubraj Basnet,
President for BCN and Mr. Pem Kandel, acting secretary of MoFSC was the chief
guest. Patrons, Advisors, Members (Life, General, Student) supporters and
representatives of various organizations attended the program.
The first session included presentation on Vulture Release
Program by Krishna Bhusal, Vulture Program Officer, BCN followed by
presentation on Demoiselle Crane Migration by Jyotendra Jyu Thakuri, Senior
Program Officer, BCN. Similarly,
certificates of appreciation were awarded to Naresh Kushi, Thsiring Lama, Pema
Rikzin Lama, Geraldine Werhalm for recording new bird species Rufous-tailed
Rock Thrush Monticola Saxitilis: Som G.C and Mich Coker for recording new bird
species Grey-sided Thrush Turdus feae and Hathan Chaudhary, Carol Inskipp and
Mary Crosby for recording new bird
species West Himalayan Bush Warbler Bradypterus Kashmirensis.
The second (closed) session included presentations from
Rajendra Gurung, General Secretary BCN on annual progress of the organization
and finance report by Ashok Bahadur Malla, Teasurer (BCN). Then, the floor was
made open for the Participants who inquired about the progress and future
endeavors of the organization. The final session ended with concluding remark
from the Chairman of the event.
