As the capital and major cities are suffering from great
deal of air pollution, Nepal celebrated 47th World Environment Day 2019 with
the theme “Beat the Air Pollution” on June 5 2019 with various events across
the nation.
The annual major event was organized at Jwalakhel Ground
organized by NTNC- Central Zoo in coordination with BCN, IUCN, NTNC, WWF,
Lalitpur Metropolitan and ZSL Nepal. The event began with rally attended by students
from different schools and colleges, representatives of government officials
and environment conservation organizations. Veteran Culture expert and
Litterateur Satya Mohan Joshi graced the event as the chief guest where schools
and students were awarded for their active participation and best works in arts
& Literature. One the very occasion the poster of “Wood Snipe” published
with an aim to aware people about the status of the species and its
conservation was launched by the honorable chief guest. Recently crowned Miss
Nepal and first and second runner up lead the mass of 1000 in oath ceremony to
show their commitments in environment conservation and reduction of air
pollution.
BCN also organized and participated several events in other
places such as Ghodaghodi and Dang. Krishna Bhusal, Vulture Conservation
Program Officer gave presentation on decade long efforts on Vultures
Conservation in Nepal at an event organized at British Council, Lainchaur
Nepal.
