One day district level workshop was organized in
collaboration with District Forest Office and Livestock Service Office at
BIrgunj, Parsa on 24th June 2015. This USAID funded Hariyo Ban Programme supported
workshop was chaired by Mr. Raj Bahadur Raut, District Forest Officer at
District Forest Office, Parsa and the chief guest of the programme was Mr.
Keshav Raj Ghimire, Chief District Officer, Parsa. The major discussion points
in the workshop were:
Update on vulture conservation practices/issues in Nepal.
Status of vultures in Parsa district.
Status of Diclofenac use in Parsa district.
Role of stakeholders in vulture conservation.
Dr. Ram Parichhan Shah, Office Chief at District Livestock
Service Office, Parsa highlighted the need of completely removing diclofenac
from environment and using safe alternative meloxicam in livestock treatment.
35 individuals representing district level stakeholders which involved District
Forest Office, District Livestock Service Office, District Administration
Office, District Development Committee, District Agriculture Development
Office, Animal Quarantine Office, Nepal Para Veterinary and Livestock
Association (NEVLA) district chapter, Nepal Veterinary Association(NVA)
district chapter, Federation of Community Forest Users Nepal (FECOFUN) district
chapter, Association of Collaborative Forest Users Nepal (ACOFUN) district
chapter, Green Youth Nepal (GYN) Parsa, Veterinary Practitioners, Veterinary
Pharmacies Owners, Local Youths and Media Persons of Parsa district
participated in the training program.
