
Department of National Park and Wildlife
Conservation (DNPWC) has been celebrating first week of Nepali new year as
Wildlife Week in collaboration with national partners organising several
awareness activities about wildlife of Nepal. Like previous year BCN also
joined hand with DNPWC in celebrating 16thWildlife Week and took a lead on
organising birdwatching at Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park (SNNP) on 16 April
2011. There was huge participation of around 150 students from different
schools and people from various partner organizations. All together 63 species
of birds were observed and heard by four different groups who went to four
different part of the park.
On the same day, Mr. Krishna Acharya, Director
General, DNPWC inaugurated hoarding board with detail map of SNNP in front of
the main entrance of the park. More hoarding board of same kind will be
established at several other parts of the park. This is an informative hoarding
board for people to know which part of the park they are. Informative leaflet
about ecosystem services were also distributed on the closing ceremony of the
Wildlife Week. The hoarding board was established with a joint support from
BCN, Chandra Gurung Foundation and donation made by friends of Marc Vincent on
the occasion of his 50th Birthday.
