Two-day 'Bird Watching Training for Trekking Guides' was
held at Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) Secretariat on 12th and
13th January 2016. The training was
organized by Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) with technical
support from Bird Conservation Nepal (BCN). Altogether 30 trekking guides
associated with TAAN member agencies participated in the training.
The main objective of training was to provide insight on
status and importance of Nepal's Birds and the prospects of Ecotourism &
Opportunity of Bird watching Tourism in Nepal. The training also covered Bird
Identification Techniques, Code of Conduct for Bird Watchers and Bird Watching
Sites in Nepal before heading for a half day bird watching event at Shivapuri
Nagarjun Forest. Towards the end of the program, Dr. Maheshwar Dhakal from
DNPWC presented the need and importance of adherence towards government of
Nepal's rules and regulations by trekking guides.
