Bird Conservation Nepal organized its 33rdAnnual General
Meeting on 30thJanuary 2016, Saturday at Indreni Complex, Kathmandu, Nepal. The
program was chaired by president of BCN's executive members Mr. Yub Raj Basnet.
The founder president Mr. Hari Saran Nepali "Kazi" was the chief
guest of the program. Patrons, Advisors, Members (Life Members, General Members
and Student Members), supporters and representatives of various organizations
attended the program.
The preliminary session of the program included presentation
on satellite telemetry study in Red-headed vultures in Nepal by Mr. Khadananda
Paudel, Vulture Conservation Programme Officer, BCN followed by highlights on a
multidimensional ecosystem services assessment at Rauta, VDC delivered by Ms.
Ishana Thapa, Senior Conservation Officer, BCN. During the later session
organization's General Secretary Mr. Rajendra Gurung stressed over the program
status which included Bird Conservation Nepal's engagement on its four pillars
i.e. Saving Species, Sites and Habitats, Ecosystem Services and Livelihoods and
Awareness. Similarly, Treasurer Mr. Ashok Bahadur Malla publicized the
organization's financial highlights of the year 2014/15.
Through this event, BCN honoured Mr. Ram Bahadur Shahi and
Mr. Benjamin Smelt, for recording Mottled Wood Owl, and similarly acclaimed Mr.
Naresh Kusi and Ms. Geraldine Werhan for successfully recording Tibetan Lark
towards new bird species for Nepal in 2015.
The feedback and discussion session towards the end of the
program examined some issues and concerns for cogitation to mark organization's
triumph in near days to come.
