Interaction program on threats to vultures in Nepal

Bird Conservation Nepal in collaboration with the veterinary hospital, livestock service expert center and Nepal para-veterinary and livestock association of Palpa district organized an interaction program on threats to vultures in Nepal on 10th November, 2022. The interaction program was held at livestock service expert center, Palpa. The primary goal of the interaction program was to educate veterinary practitioners and technicians on the ecological importance of vultures, their main threats, vulture toxic and safety drugs, and ongoing efforts to reduce vulture toxic drugs. Representatives from veterinary offices, Division Forest Office, veterinary practitioners, NEVLA, NELTA, veterinary students, Agro-vet shop proprietors, Community forest user groups from vulture nesting area, and journalists provided their insightful feedback and suggestions on stopping the use of Non-steroidal and anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) toxic to vultures such as Diclofenac, Aceclofenac, Ketoprofen, Flunixin, Carprofen and Nimesulide.
